Job Summary 

The Product Manufacturing Center in Laurel, MD is seeking a highly motivated Inventory Specialist. They will receive, store, and issue materials, equipment, and other items from the stockroom, or warehouse. They will keep records and compile stock reports. They will compile and maintain material and parts inventory with status information to expedite movement of material and parts between production areas by performing the required duties. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Receive and count stock items, and record data manually using computer (SAGE100). 
  • Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses. 
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors. 
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in the Inventory Room. 
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports of inventories, shortages, shipments, and goods used or issued. 
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations. 
  • Knowledge of Receiving Department procedures and documents. 
  • Pulls parts/ materials for work orders and places in designated locations. Adjust inventory and pull sheet counts. Update pick tickets. Maintain “Sign Out” log for those parts/ materials that are not on work order pull sheets. Upon completion of sheet, submit to Production Manager for inventory follow up. 
  • Work with Machine Shop on status of raw material work orders. 
  • Prepare and participate in yearly physical inventory. 
  • Recommend disposal of excess, defective, or obsolete stock. 
  • Aid shipping and receiving when needed. 
  • Work with production to address any shortages or damaged parts.

Experience and Skills 

  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
  • 1 plus years of experience 
  • Must be experienced in the use of MS Windows based computers, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access Data-Entry). 
  • Experience with Costpoint,or similar production planning database software is a plus. 
  • Mathematical Skills- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. 
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds to waist level. 
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds to chest level.
  • Ability to walk up rolling warehouse ladders while lifting 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods. 

Education 

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
